I Help People With IBS Get Their Life Back

I’m Debra Thomas, a UK Specialist IBS & low FODMAP Dietitian. I help people who’ve been dismissed, confused, or stuck finally understand what’s driving their IBS and take control of their symptoms.

After working with thousands of clients, one thing became clear to me. Many people with IBS are not getting the right guidance or support.

Why I Focus on IBS (and Why It Matters to You)

I’m HCPC registered, a member of the British Dietetic Association, and have over 20 years of experience helping people manage Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).

But what matters more than my credentials is this:

I know how frustrating it is to live around your gut.

It’s not 'just' IBS

IBS is real — and it deserves evidence-based, practical support.

Through this work, I developed a clear and proven way to help people feel better with more confidence and less guesswork.

Evidence-based support, tailored to you

No fads. No guesswork. Just clarity, structure, and real results.

I’m a Registered Dietitian, regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and a Member of the British Dietetic Association (BDA).

I trained in the low FODMAP approach at King’s College London, and spent many years within the NHS working in Nutrition Support, and Specialist IBS Services.

For the last 10 years, I’ve worked with clients across the UK, helping them reduce IBS symptoms and rebuild a normal relationship with food.

I have a base in Cardiff and Bristol, but support clients online across the UK, combining clinical expertise with a warm, practical approach that fits into real life.

My approach blends medical nutrition therapy, the low FODMAP method, and everyday guidance. It’s not about restriction, it’s about confidence and lasting relief.

A track record of innovation and excellence in dietetics.

Recognised nationally for excellence and innovation in dietetics and IBS care.

This approach is designed to help you move from frustration and confusion to clarity and control.

How we’ll get your IBS symptoms under control

Every person’s IBS is different, but the roadmap to relief follows three key steps:

Assess & Identify

We review your symptoms and triggers so you know exactly what’s happening.

Personalise & Simplify

Together, we build a low FODMAP plan that fits your life — not the other way around.

Support & Sustain

You’ll get guidance and feedback every step of the way to make results last.

If you are wondering whether this approach really works, here is what clients have shared about their experience.

I also work closely with other Specialist Dietitians, so you are supported by the right expertise whenever it is needed.

Trusted Partners

As a member of the South Wales Freelance Dietitians’ Group, I work alongside a trusted network of professionals who specialise in different areas of nutrition and health.

This collaboration means my clients can benefit from wider expertise when needed — from paediatrics to sports and mental health nutrition.

Outside of work, I value exploring new places, learning new things, and pushing myself beyond my comfort zone.

A little more about me…

Outside of work, I enjoy walking in the countryside, travelling, and reading. I also like pushing myself outside my comfort zone, whether that’s skydiving, exploring new places, or taking on challenges that require planning and resilience.

That mindset carries into my work with clients. IBS can feel unpredictable and overwhelming, so I focus on providing clear guidance, steady support, and a plan you can trust, so managing symptoms feels manageable rather than stressful.
